“We have been privileged to work with Kal Effendi on two major projects.

The first was the building of a three car garage at our home in an historically significant district of St. Paul. Kal Construction developed a workable and beautiful design. The word “beautiful” would normally not apply to a garage. But the plan was for a graceful building that could easily have been the historic coach house, and that picked up on architectural details of the main house in creative and charming ways. The building then needed to be approved by three different city review boards. It was obvious from those meetings that Kal Effendi enjoyed the respect of Board members and that they trusted his integrity to deliver what was promised. Kal obtained the approvals with virtually no changes and no delay. Once planned and approved, Kal Construction then delivered the garage itself on budget and on time. The work site was kept immaculately clean, his crews were unfailingly courteous and helpful. The quality of construction was unmatched in our experience. The structure was wonderfully solid, and the attention to detail was remarkable. In the almost two years we have been using the new garage, we have come to recognize the quality of the construction and the elegance of the design. It is workable, comfortable and solidly built.

Given the success of our first project, we were happy to return to Kal Construction for a major rehabilitation of the main house. The project involved the creation of a new kitchen, breakfast room and family room as well as a new master bath and dressing room. It was hard for us to believe but Kal Construction exceeded our already high expectations for this second project. A great design, functional and beautiful; outstanding success in obtaining historic and zoning approvals; superb construction and beautiful and creative detailing at every turn. To say that we love the result is to understate our level of satisfaction with the work that was done. It is simply superb in every way. Of course, Kal delivered on budget and on time. As a part of that delivery, he added many minor changes without charge and with a smile.

These projects were the third and fourth major residential construction process of our lives. We were pleased with the first two, we hired good companies and enjoyed good success. None did the sort of job that Kal Construction delivered. Kal did two absolutely superb jobs. We recommend him enthusiastically and without reservations.
